Advantages: Quick set-up between games

Disadvantages: Dear for what you get compared to other games

Buckaroo is a great game. A game for kids aged four and above. A plastic donkey standing on a plastic base on its two front legs with its hind legs in the air as if the donkey is kicking out. Press the donkey's back down until the donkey clicks into position, the donkey now stands on all four legs. Now carefully place the items onto the donkey's back until you either get all items loaded or until the donkey kicks out and throws its legs into the air and displaces the saddle and contents from its back.

The donkey is made up from good quality colourful plastic and the associated items are plastic and colourful too. These days the sensitivity of the trigger mechanism can be adjusted via a switch under the donkey's blanket. There are three different levels.

Once the sensitivity is selected and the donkey is 'primed' the game begins and the items are placed on the donkey. Items to place on the donkey's back are:

The saddle, which has hooks on to hold the other items. This needs to be placed on the donkey first.

Other items to place on the saddle are: a bedroll, a water bottle, a frying pan, a rope, a shovel, a guitar, a holster and gun, a crate, a cowboy hat, a lantern and a stick of dynamite.

The game is a fun game to play and keeps kids entertained for ages. Set-up is very quick, once the donkey has 'kicked' remove the saddle and items then press the donkey's legs down again and you are ready for the next game. You need a steady hand and nerves of steel to play this, a good game to teach kids tactile skills and how to be gentle. Costs arouond £10 - £12.

Summary: Good family entertaining fun

I had this as a child and bought my son one when he was younger, have to say the newer versions feel and look very tacky compared to the original one I had so many years ago :-)

I had good old Bucky for Christmas one year. He didn't 'buck' as much as they showed on TV :(

I waited decades to play this game; at school all my friends had it.... Then me n my girlfriend bught it last year (because we have a mental age of six between us!!)..

I set everything up perfectly, and guess what; we'd bought a broken one :-( My Roo did not Buck...

We were devestated and wrote letters of complaint to Santa.... Hee Hee!!

Great review, and a great game -as long as you buy a working one -lol!!
