Advantages: Brilliant learnig and fun game.
Disadvantages: Not many.
A good game played by everyone, including the pre-school kiddies, An absolutely classic game to be honest. You know the rules, we have all played this game, so why are you reading this review I ask?
However, the real question is, Why am I writing it?
The answer is here:-.
Firstly the fact that this game was easy, so easy in fact, that you didn't really need instructions, you could get people who have never seen a board game before, to play around and suss it out. Age is immaterial, so is gender.
This was the type of game that actually bring a family together, rather than causing kids to argue. This is I think the main reason that the game will be with us, in some form or another, in a hundred years time.
The basic Idea was of course, is to reach the foot of a ladder and therefore go upwards towards the winning post, and no doubt everyone at some time during this game, will land at the head of a snake, beginning the slide downwards, back towards the start.
Right, here is the twist, this version is not a board game like the old ones, it is actually 3D! The principle is identical however, although the traditional Snakes, & Ladders, have been replaced by plastic obstacles, like a roundabout, a see-saw, and a tube like you see at swimming pools. It really is the same game, but just a more tactile version, try it yourself.
As with the old game, there is absolutely nothing you can do about where you land, it really is down to the throw of a dice, meaning that little Jimmy of six, can beat fair & square his Professor Dad. This is a true Family game and skill is not involved in the process.
Anything that can bring a Family together gets my vote, and I can not think of any games console, or a computer that can do this like good old Snakes and Ladders.
Here rests my case.
This particular one is made by Chad Valley, but I presume other manufacturers can produce it too. The only price I could quote is from Woolworth's, so obviously I won't bother, they are available for less than a Fiver though.
Summary: A valuable learning tool for pre-school kids.
