Advantages: great excitement - simple to set up - can be played by all ages over 3
Disadvantages: Not suitable for under 3's , not a game to calm children
This is a game every house should have - even of you haven't got children and more especially if you have.
This game is manufactured by MB games and usually retails for about £10. Sometimes it is included in the 3 for 2 offers in Toys R us and the like around christmas time.
The game is simplicity itself. The board consists of a large square base and on each of the sides lives a Hippo. There is a small black luvel on the hippo's back and when this is pushed down the head pops forward a raises up slightly so that it can "eat" one of the small balls.
If you manage to eat one of the balls then it goes in a space next to your hippo. the game finishes when all the balls have been "eaten" and you see who has the most balls.
The game is over very quickly so for any children who do not have a great attention span then this game is ideal. The hippos do take a bit of a bashing but they are really robust. We used ours on a daily basis for a number of years and it was only in the final few months that one of the heads became a bit wobbly and finally cracked at the side.
This game is not suitable for for children under three as the balls are quite small and could easily be swallowed - put in ears - put in noses (I'm sure if you have small children you get the idea).
Be prepared for lots of the noise - the game is a little noisy in its mechanism and this does tend to excite children generally so its not a game to be played in order to calm children down.
I don't think I have ever found anyone who doesn't like this game - if you are ever stuck for ideas for presents buy this if they haven't already got one you won't be disappointed
Summary: A fast and furious exciting game
