Advantages: Fun game to play, set to set up and pack away.

Disadvantages: Noisy and boring after a few games

I have always been a lover of games as a child one of the games I used to like was Hungry Hippos. I have no idea what ever happened to mine, however when in my local Asda a few months back I purchased the game for our toy box.

Hungry Hippos - By MB Games:

"This is a frantic marble gathering action game which will test your speed and agility. The hippo with the most marbles wins the game! A great way to unleash your competitive side!"

My Findings:

I couldn't wait to give this game another go with Gracie May my 5 year old niece and God-daughter, as she is like me in so many ways I knew she was going to like this game. We have played this game so many times now I have lost count!

Setting the game up is very easy and Gracie had no problems setting this up after I showed her how it was done. It is just a case of slotting the hippos in the places allocated on the plastic board. It states the game is suitable for 4 years and over and for 2 to 4 players. Personally I think a child 3 years could play this but supervision is needed due to the small parts.

The aim of the game is very simple you need to collect as many white marbles as you can by pressing the black lever as fast as you can. This is where Gracie gets in to fits of laughter and just like me she has a right little cheeky laugh! Gracie can be a little challenging at times and this game is perfect for her to be a little wild. You will need to play this game on a flat surface, we normally sit and play this on the floor but a table would be better.

This game is very durable as it sure has taken a beating from our gaming times; so far there are no signs of any possible breakage or damage. As for the longevity of this game really depends on the mood of the child. Each round only lasts a couple of minutes at the most, where we could be playing for around 15-20 minutes before Gracie wants to go to a different game. Do note this game is rather noisy!

I like the fact that this game doesn't take much time to set up and play, so it's great if you only have a few minutes to spare before going out. Like with most games it can get a little boring after awhile but it passes the time nicely. There isn't really any education benefit here it's just a game where you can just let your hair down.

There are no batteries needed for this game, nice and easy to store away as it comes in a hard cardboard box. I will be holding on to this game for when George is old enough to play it, as this game is a type of game that will still be around for years to come.

Price and Availability:

You can pick this game up from a lot of toy/game outlets and I have even seen it in charity shops between £1-£2 which is a bargain. I paid £9.99 for this game from Asda a few months back now and we have certainly had our moneys worth from this game.

Overall:

For the money and simple fun we have with this game I'm very happy I made that purchase. Its not a game you play for hours on end just a couple of minutes and the game is done, which means you end up having a few games but its worth it. It is easy to set up and pack away, it is however on the noisy side so we can not play when George is sleeping.

Five out of five stars from me.

Thanks for reading.
