Hungry Hippos...what can I say, this takes me back to my childhood in an instant. I remember getting this game for Christmas one year and me and my sister spent hours playing on it. So when looking for birthday presents for my goddaughter I just couldn't resist after I saw it in Smiths Toyshop. Besides, I knew she'd need someone to play it with and who better but her favourite godmother ;o)
Hungry Hippos is a children's board game from MB Games. It is designed for 2-4 players for ages 4 and over (our goddaughter is 6 so though this was well suited). The aim of the game is to munch as many marbles with your chosen hippo as quickly as possible until all the marbles are gone. Whoever has munched the most wins. The game is predominantly plastic so it quite sturdy and lightweight and the red base board measures around 27 x 27 x 10 cm. The games comes with 4 coloured hippo's in Orange, Pink, Yellow and Green which simply click into place on the base. Each hippo has a black handle which when pressed moves the hippo head forward and up to gobble up the marbles. There are 20 plastic marbles for munching and you can add as many or as few as desired.
So as the balls are released the game begins frantically with a scrabble of hippo's trying to gobble as many marbles as follows. The game really is fast and furious and great fun for children and adults alike. The game also helps children develop their hand-eye coordination so its educational while great fun. Children really wouldn't realise they were learning. Then as you count out your marbles they can develop counting skills.
An great original board game from MB that's standing the test of time. Although almost all plastic the game is strong and will not easily break making it long lasting. Great for all ages and loads of fun. It is also colourful for the children, dynamic and fast moving to keep their attention. Suitable for anyone from 4 years up and worth getting for a great laugh! The game can be purchased from toy shops such as Smiths and Toy-R-Us and also places such as Argos. I have seen it priced from £10 to £17 and I got it for £12.99 a couple of weeks ago from Smiths. For the price it really is a great buy!
Summary: Adults with love this as much as the kids
