Advantages: cheap, good fun

Disadvantages: noisy

This is a Chad Valley toy, available from Woolworths. There is also a similar game, but different animal (forgot which).
(NOTE - in comments section I've been informed it is called Hungry Hippos).

If you are looking for a gift for under £5, I would recommend buying this. It's not the most exciting or educational game, but my daughter has lots of fun even on her own. She enjoys counting all the balls she's caught (which is usually all of them - unless the cat's been playing with them). If I'm in the mood (usually after a couple of drinks), I can enjoy it too, but then I find it very difficult to count the balls.

It's a very simple game for children 3 years and over and it is for a maximum of 4 players.
It can get exciting with 2 players as the levers are pressed as quickly as possible to try and catch as many balls as possible. Obviously if there are 4 players the game is over very quick.

There are 4 levers with frogs on the end, on a round base. Press the levers as fast as you can to make the frogs catch the balls, which are placed in the centre. Now wait for the surprise - the winner is the player who catches the most balls. (Told you it was simple).

The game is brightly coloured - blue base, red, yellow, green, orange frogs and yellow balls - for those who like to keep a colour coodinated scheme in their home (you sad people).

Only 2 disadvantages to this game:

It can get quite noisy when the balls are been devoured by the frogs, so you have to turn the telly very loud to hear it.

Also if you have cats, the balls can get played with and you find them under chairs and in the strangest places.

I have had this game since Christmas and It is still in good condition, but on one occasion one of the frogs became slightly detached but it was easy to put back in its place.

I used to love hungry hippos as a kid... looking back on it now, I can imagine how noisy it must have been! My poor mum... ;)

After a couple of drinks I crack up with laughter playing this game. Snap has the same effect on me too.

The 'other animal' by the way was the original "Hungry Hippos" game. I remember trivia forever and still forget anniversaries! :-) Neat Review.
