Cluedo is a strategy board game that has a clever format. The premise of the game is to find out the details of a murder which has taken place: the culprit, the weapon and the location. There are cards for each of these three categories and one is picked out of each randomly and put in the middle of the board. These three cards are what you have to work out. The rest of the cards are divvied out between the players, so for example suppose who have a character card with one of the characters, colonel Mustard. Then you know that this is not the character card in the middle of the board and thus he is not the culprit.

You take it in turns to gather more evidence by suggesting the three cards in the middle, upon which the player to your left will show you a card that disproves your suggestion if they have such a card.

It sounds pretty complex but it really isn't and anyone from probably 9 upwards could play this with a good chance of winning. Perhaps the best thing is that if you want to you can make it more complex for yourself by thinking about everything very logically, and working out exactly what cards each other person has for a laugh.

Summary: A great board game that deserves its status as a classic
