Advantages: good fun
Disadvantages: too complex for younger children
Cluedo is a fab board game and starts with the murder of Dr Black. I used to really enjoy playing this game as a kid.
Before the game starts someone secretly chooses a room card, an object card and a character card. These are placed in a black envelope and won't be revealed until the end of the game.
The body was found at the bottom of the stairs. Miss Scarlett found him. Did she do it? The cause of death has not been decided but there are several objects around the house that could have been used. A dagger - found in the lounge, a candlestick - found in the dining room, a revolver - found in the study, a rope - found in the ballroom, some lead Piping - found in the conservatory and a spanner - found in the kitchen. These objects are placed in there respective rooms.
The main suspects are the guests who are staying for the weekend. They are: Col. Mustard (Yellow), Prof. Plum (Purple), Rev. Green (Green), Mrs. Peacock (Blue), Miss Scarlett (Red) and Mrs. White (White)
Each player is dealt some cards which can be eliminated straight away as they can't possibly be in the black envelope.
Each player takes it in turns to go to different rooms making suggestions. Other players will answer yes or no and more objects/rooms/characters can be elimintated. The winner is the 1st person to guess all three correct.
I like this game as it's different every time but I wish they would update it a litttle with new editions. A junior version would also be good as it's a little complex for children.
Summary: A who-dun-it Adventure!
