Advantages: Game is always slightly different

I refuse to believe that anyone does not know what Cluedo is, although i was shocked to find that many of my friends don't know how to play Chess so I will explain it anyway.

Cluedo is a board game that is set in a mansion house and Dr Black has been murdered, but who did it, well it's your job to find out. There are three sets of cards, Locations, people and weapons, one card from each set is randomly chosen and hidden from all players, these cards hold the solution. The other sets of cards are mixed together and dealed to all the players. The cards are as follows:

Rope
Revolver
Lead Pipe
Dagger
Candlestick

People -

Ms Scarlet
Colonel Mustard
Mrs White
Reverend Green
Miss Peackock
Professor Plum

Locations -

Lounge
Hall
Study
Library
Dining Room
Conservatory
Billiard Room
Kitchen
Ballroom

Each player chooses one of the pieces listed in the card list under people and they are given a notepad with a list of all the cards on it and they tick off each card as they see it, either from another player or if they have the card themselves, eventually through the proccess of elimination one player will have eliminated all possibilities except for one weapon, one suspect and one location, they can then accuse that player of murdering Dr Black in the location with whatever weapon it may have been.

Play proceeds as follows: All players start from a different location in the mansion house and play in the following order:

Ms Scarlet
Colonel Mustard
Mrs White
reverend Green
Miss Peacock
Professor Plum

Each player rolls a dice and then makes a number of moves through the corridors of the house. When a player reaches a room they may make a suggestion. Assume that Ms Scarlet reaches the Hall and decides to suggest the following:

Professor Plum, with the revolver
in the Hall

professor Plums piece is moved to the Hall and then assume that Colonel mustard has the card for the revolver, Colonel Mustard must then declare that he can disprove Ms Scarlets suggestion and then, without showing any other player, must show Ms Scarlet the Revolver card. Ms Scarlet can then tick it off her list and play then continues.


Cluedo is an excellent game, unfortunately it only ever gets played at times like Christmas in my Household but I have the PC version of the original Cluedo but Computer players aren't quite the same as real opponents. I really recommend this game to everyone, it is an excellent game that is so much fun and it NEVER gets boring.
