Advantages: 3 great games in one

Disadvantages: mtrix release can be a bit fiddly at times

A very addictive game. The game is made up of a blue plastic base on which stands a blue plastic matrix, with the top open allowing you to 'drop' your counters in. The counters are of good quality plastic, one set being coloured yellow and one set being coloured red. The counters, 42 in total, 21 of each colour, have a neat serrated designed surface which enables them to be stacked neatly on top of one another. The matrix has a mechanism to drop the counters from the bottom which can be fiddly sometimes.

Aim of the game:

Originally this was connect 4, one game, one way to play, but today they now have three games in one. The original, connect 4, pop out and pop 10.

Connect 4, each player takes it in turns to drop a counter into the matrix, the first player to get four of their counters in a row, vertically, horizontally or diagonally wins that particular game.

Pop Out is basically the reversal of connect four, the matrix is full of the counters and the players attempt to get four in a row by 'popping out' a counter from the base of the matrix.

Pop 10 is pop out, i.e. the counters are pre loaded into the matrix, when a player pops one out and the counter is part of a four in a row, the player keeps the counter. The first player to get 10 counters wins.

Verdict:

This was a great game to play when I was younger when it was "only" connect 4. Now with the redesign of the base, allowing you to pop counters out, and the introduction of the new games, this truly is a good value for money game. A game of chance, excitement and sheer "doh" when you realise you have just lost. Excellent value also, the game costs approximately £10 and is currently selling in Argos for £9.79.

Summary: Excellent value for money
