Advantages: Very funny, Uncomplicated

Disadvantages: Takes a while to play, You'd probably need booze to make it fun!

I was bought Dare several years ago – its one of the funniest games I’ve ever played. If you’ve got the type of ‘don’t-give-a-damn’ friends and family that I have (this also coincides with consumption of alcohol) then this is for you! I’m telling you, it can be hilarious watching your grandmother lying on her back pretending to be a tortoise stuck on her shell, or your mother pretending to be a washing machine on full spin! Also great for intimidating new members of the family, the ritual humiliation of your brother's new girlfriend pretending to be on a bucking bronco (the ageing uncle on her right) should be enough to prove worthy entry into the family (that was a joke by the way, but the bronco dare is real enough).

However, if the above comments make me or my family/friends seem like alcoholics, you can’t be far off one to enjoy this game. Although suitable for younger members of the family, it’s not the most enjoyable game to play while sober – so save it for the grown-ups once they’ve had a bit of Dutch Courage. To be honest, it can be extremely boring (not to mention humiliating!) as it lasts a very long time with quite a few people playing, yet it is not much fun at all with just three or four.

I would recommend this to students, being one myself, this is actually a great game to play to get to know each other better, it breaks down barriers as you have to make a fool of yourself many times over. Families should probably tuck the kids into bed before playing (my uncle got a telling off for drawing a horses, er, privates while blindfolded in front of my younger brother)! But overall, this game can be hilarious. I would recommend it.
