Now, those of you who know me will know that this is exactly my type of sport. Not only is the physical exertion practically nil, but it is played, predominatly, in the pub. Can't get much better than that! Darts, however, is a magnificent game, played by millions worldwide, and is without doubt one of the greatest spectator sports in the world. Yet it was also the scene of the greatest civil war any sport has ever seen... For the uninitiated, darts is mainly a pub game, where local leagues are played out throughout the year. The aim of the game is to get 501 points, counting down, by throwing three pieces of rather sharp tungston/nickle(depending on ... Read the complete review

(Sorry about the title...I had a mind blank!). I started playing darts about a month ago. I was on holiday with my parents and friends, bored out of my mind in a crappy pub on the south coast. My parents and their friends were talking about the old days when the suggestion of darts popped up. They jumped up...assembled their darts and started hurling the sharp pointed arrows at the unsuspecting dart board. I must admit I was a little curious about how they were actually getting the scored they were getting because as far as I could see they were awarding them selves 45 for hitting a 15 (of courrse later I learned that the small bands are double and trebles). ... A wise man once said to me “Son darts is the real game of the Kings, forget your horseracing, your yachting and your synchronised swimming. There is only one true sport and that is darts”. Of course I ignored the old fool and went happily on with my life until one fateful day when I was sucked head forth into the world of occies, bullseyes and double tops. From that day on wards darts has become my religion, my one righteous cause and my guiding light in the wilderness of barren drinking dens and smoky backrooms. You see the old man was right darts is the real game of Kings, but not the Kings of Europe and the lineage of monarchs. No my friends darts is the ... Read the complete review

Darts - the only game worth playing!? A game accessible to everyone and anyone. Any sex, any age, any body! There are 2 sides to darts, the game we all play down the pub with a few mates and the sport we see on TV. The same game, but 2 completely different versions. Darts down the pub is the best game to play for the mere mortal pub going bloke like myself. What better way to while away those drinking hours than by hurling bits of metal at a horsehair board? Of course, there is much more to it than that. With a bit of practice and regular playing, anyone can get to an acceptable level of darts where they can enjoy a competitive match ... I'm sure that everyone, at some point, has walked into a pub to see people playing darts. Well the reason is because it's great fun. You can be as competitive or as friendly as you like. There's no minimum amount of players, and certainly no maximum. Anyone, who's played 501 darts in his or her local league, will vouch for this. You can have 16 people playing at any one time. For those of you that have never been able to quite understand the rules, here's a quick lesson. In this case we will use 2 players. The name of the game is the first player to get from (usually) 301 down to 0 is the winner. To start the game, you (usually) need to ... Read the complete review
