Advantages: Social event., Fun for all ages.

Disadvantages: Makes you drink too much., Frustrating to begin with.

The game of darts is by far and away the best pub game ever to be played (in my humble opinion, that is).

Brief Summary of the rules :

Standard 501/301

Each player has 3 darts which must be thrown at the board numbered between 1 and 20. The aim is to reduce the starting number to 0 in fewer darts than your opponent. Each number has both a double and a treble section on it so you can score more points from that number.

To finish a game you must hit a double so one of the skills of the game is to leave yourself with one which is easilly divided, preferably 32 as this leaves you with 16, 8, 4 and 2 to go for if you hit a single of the number you're aiming for. 40 (double top runs out quicker as you only have 20, 10 then 5 leaving you with an odd number to get rid of and hence, wasting a dart. Bullseye is also considered a double ad is worth 50 points off the total.

Darts is a social occasion, you get to meet other teams, visit new pubs and clubs and have a great evening out with friends. It never gets as violent as pool as there are no cues to weild around and it can be a great night out.

When you first start to play darts it can be a very frustrating experience, you'll get used to being beaten and getting the mickey taken out of you, however, this leads to a dedication and commitment to improving. The first time you hit 180 (3 x treble 20) is the best feeling in the world of darts.

I'd reccomend darts to anyone who loves to socialise and have a great night out in a competitive game involving lethal objects!
