Advantages: Good for learning numbers
Disadvantages: Can get a little boring
Dominoes is one of those games that is so simple yet it seems to have stood the test of time! I played it when I was little, my dad played it when he was little and his dad played it when he was little too. I'm sure generations have enjoyed this game in one way or another.
Dominoes are made up of small rectangular shapes which are divided into two. On each side is a number of spots. To start the game, the players choose seven dominoes and the player with the double six has to lay. The players take it in turns to match a domino to the number that has been laid. If you don't have one to match then you can forfeit your turn and choose another. The winner is the one who gets rid of all the dominoes first.
This game is very easy to play but takes a fair amount of time to play. It's great for younger children as it encourages their counting skills and promotes there matching skills.
I like this game because it doesn't take much brain power. It's one of those games that doesn't take much setting up and I don't need to be 'on the ball' to play it. I find the original dominoes better than any of the others because in most cases the original is always the best.
You can get all sorts of dominoes besides the standard black and white ones. You can buy children's ones which have pictures of animals on them and there is also themed ones if you fancy it. My favourites are the mini ones which are so small and cute!
The best thing about the dominoes is when you line them all up on a flat surface and then knock them all down. The satisfaction that it makes me feel when I watch them push each other over, one by one is unexplainable. The time it takes to line them up is also unexplainable!!
Summary: A great one for every member of the human race!
