Well worth adding to the game cupboard

Who can resist a wordsearch, well now it comes in a board game format, produced by Drummond Park this game is a great addition to any games cupboard.

I purchased mine in December ready for Christmas for my two children who are 10 and 12 and fit nicely into the 8+ range that Drummond Park suggest the game is aimed at. I paid £22 for the game from Amazon.co.uk
and its now currently selling between £33 and £40 which I think its rather expensive. You can pick up an older version of the same game for £16.

Now back to the game. The box says you can have 2 to 4 players and we have played with both quite happily. The game includes 1 wordsearch base board, 10 double sided game cards, this allows for 20 different themed games, each card has its own topic like food, transport, the body (the body one we found difficult) You also get 4 x 70 marking pieces in red, yellow, green and blue. The marking pieces look just like contact lenses and come in four little clear plastic sealable bags, handy when packing away so you don't loose them all. The game also comes with clear instructions although once you put the layers of the board together the rules are fairly easy, find the word first, collect the most words and you win.

You have to find the words in order as the disc is spun around the edge so no-one can see what words you need or what order they come in. The fact the children can see the word they are looking for on the side is also a bonus as we have one very bad speller in this house. At the start of the game you think that several players will be at a disadvantage as the letters to them are upside down but because the game board spins a full circle during the game everyone ends up seeing the words at some point side on and upside down, this didn't seem to affect the children finding the words. We played last night with the youngest friend in the group being only 5 years old and she won so the game can be used for the under 8's too just be wary that the marking pieces are small for children who like to sample everything with their mouths. I would say 5 up is a perfect age really. The game maybe slightly slower with smaller children but if it keeps them entertained its done its job in my book.

The board itself is well made and looks like it will happily last without any problems at all. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend the game at the price I paid, not sure I would pay the higher price.
