Game of Life
Advantages: Easy to play and fun for kids and adults, Great board design
I remember sitting around the table on Christmas Day and all playing 'The Game Of Life'. My dad always ended up in the mansion and my mom was always relegated to the 'old people's home' Now if you have never played this game you may think I have gone mad...but no, don't worry, it's all part of the 'Game of Life' board game.
As a firm favorite in our childhood I decided to buy the game when I left home and hosted our first Christmas with all the family to continue the tradition. The game takes you through your 'life' - going to university, getting a job, marriage. You simply pop a coloured pin in a car and spin the wheel to move. The wheel is essentially your dice and shows you how far you can move. On each square of the game is a life event, a court claim and even jobs. As you work your way through the board you get married, get a job and can even end up with a car full of kids if you land on certain squares.
If you're lucky your jobs progresses as does your salary which is paid every time you go past a Payday square, but be careful not to get sued or all that cash you've saved will soon disappear. Buy shares and stocks and make a fortune as you'll need at the end of the game.
At the end of the game you add up how much you have in the 'bank'. If you are lucky enough this sends you straight to the Mansion, but your poorer players end up in the old people's home. The winner is the first to reach 'happy old age' the quickest.
The Game was originally produced in the way we know and love today in 1960, but has since produced many variations, including High School Edition, Rock Star Edition and even Family Guy edition, but the classic game is still going strong.
The game is very easy to use and play so even kids will have fun, but may need help understanding the stocks and shares idea. But nevertheless the game will entertain both kids and adults alike.
The game is provided in a box, with an image of a family in a car on the front. Inside you get 6 cars and countless little pink and blue pins which represent people which slot into holes in the car. You have colourful fake dollars in a variety of colours and amounts and also card that represents your stocks and shares. The board itself is also very interesting with its colourful routes for your cars and the big giant spinning wheel. Certain building are 3D and are plastic models that slide into the board itself making the game great visually. There are even ramps/ mountains the car have to traverse so it really is a board to engage your senses.
Overall a great family game that will never grow old or boring!
Summary: Family Fun for all ages!
