Another good board game for family night, The Game of Life is a winner.

While out shopping a few years ago when i was married, now divorced, I decided it was time to add more games to the household.
I searched and searched and ended up buying The Game of Life and Monopoly (again). I had read several reviews about The Game of Life game and as I was reading the box,
I remembered how many good reviews it received. I was not certain my 8 1/2 year old would of been able to play,
but I decided to purchase the game.

At first, it was a bit confusing but after re-reading the directions, off we were to play this new game. As I understood it, the person with the most money at the end of the game was the winner.
Knowing that, I knew that I was not going to win this game, as I do not have much luck at them.
In fact, my ex-husband and I played our little girl that night and without much fanfare, she actually won the game,
ending up with over 3.5 million on her side of the board. So, there you go, it doesn't matter how old you are, this is a fun game.

You lay out the board (assembly required) and begin the game, spin the wheel and count off the squares,
stopping first to receive your Career or College Card and then your salary card. Naturally, I ended up with the salary card with the lowest pay,
which is usually the normal for me.

The spinner on this particular game was a nuisance as it kept getting stuck if not put on properly and this was most frustrating,
but all in all, the spins lead us on our way. Along the way, you collect paydays, children (sometimes ending up with more than your car can hold)and buy a home,
pay your taxes, and gather loans in which you have to struggle to pay back. When you stop upon a square such as You had Twins,
you gather the children, put them in the car, and select a Life card, which has a dollar amount on it.
This is used at the end of the game when all your mo
ney is added up to determine the winner. The game about 30 minutes or so,
depending on how fast you play, and we thoroughly enjoyed the cute little ditties along the way,
like landing on a tree falls on your house, pay $15,000 is you have no insurance.

There are orange spaces in which you must follow the directions when you land on them. Blue spaces which are optional. Example: Trade salary cards with another player.
Green spaces are payday spaces. Thank goodness they are numerous. Red spaces such as job search, get married, and buy a house in which you must stop before playing on.
You can also buy Home Owner's Insurance and Automobile Insurance, and buy stocks along the way.
When you finally get to retire you must choose which place in which to retire Millionaire Acres or Countryside Acres.
Here all players then add up their money and assets and the one with the most money wins.

So for a good game for family night, The Game of Life is a great addition which was thoroughly enjoyable,
not only for adults, but for children as well. It is made by MB, and costs £14.99 from any toy shop.
