Advantages: Really easy to play, Good fun

Disadvantages: Doesn't last very long

I was sat at home this afternoon with my girlfriend watching TV and after realising that their was nothing worth watching I had a look through the cupboards to find something to do and I came across the 'Guess Who'? game which I used to play as a child. I hadn't played the game for ages but I could still remember how to play the game and asked if she wanted to play. She said yes so we did and we both realised what a nice and easy little game it is to play.

The Game

The game is made by MB Games and is for 2 players and it recommends that players should be aged 6 years and up. Unfortunately as I just found it lying around in a cupboard I'm not sure how much the game costs to buy in the hops but I wouldn't imagine it would be very expensive, as it isn't a very hi-tech game.

The Object of the Game.

Each player has a board which contains 24 plastic frames with each frame showing a different face on it. Both boards however contain exactly the same 24 individuals.

Each person selects a card out of a deck of 24 yellow cards with each card showing the face of one of the 24 individuals and the object of the game is to guess which face appears on your opponents card by asking a series of questions all of which must have a yes or no answer.

The plastic frames which contain the individuals faces are push up so that they are all visible to the player. The player will ask 'do they have brown hair'? if the answer is no then the player who asked the question will put down the frames showing people with brown hair and only people without brown hair are in contention to be on the opponents card.

The Rules.

Each player asks questions alternately with each question having a definite yes/no answer.
The first question asked by each player cannot be 'is it a man or a woman'? however this can be asked later on in the game.
The player can guess the name of the individual at any stage in the game however if you guess a nd you are wrong you lose the game!!!!!!!!

When a player wins a game they collect a peg and place it in the holes at the front of their board the first person to get 5 pegs is deemed the Champion.

Now I find that this game doesn't last for a very long time infact it is a very short game indeed and doesn't really stop the boredom. And I think that MB Games realsied this and created a more complicated game for adults to play which goes on the same rules however instead of only having to guess which person is on your opponents card you have to guess which people are on their cards as in the advanced game each player has 2 cards at the front of their board so the questions asked need to be more complicated such as 'does one of them have ginger hair' if the answer is yes then now frames can be turned down. As you can see this will make the game last a little longer.

In Conclusion.

Well I think this is a great little game if you are just wanting to entertain yourselves for a couple of minutes but if you are wanting to take up an afternoon with a game then this is probably not a good choice although the advanced game does increase the length of the games.

This game however is really easy to play and the rules are really easy to understand so it would make this a great game for kids to play as it makes them have to think logically and also make them realise how important it is when you phrase a question.

So I think that if this is knocking about your house you should get it out and have a little game because it is quite fun but I wouldn't go out and buy it if you haven't already got it unless you have kids as I think they would love it because I know I loved playing it when I was a kid plus it keeps them away from all those dirty video games and TV shows :-p.

Summary: Nice easy game

TheChocolateLady - as far as I remember, they're just cartoon faces with very obvious hair colour, nose size, earrings, etc. to make it easier to tell the difference between a big nose and a small nose for example.

It's only really meant to be a kids game.
