Advantages: Adds additional game play to increase the difficulty and enjoyment!

Disadvantages: Not an ideal version to play with people who've never played Cluedo before!

Yet another variation on the much loved Cluedo. As a massive CLudeo and Harry Potter fan, I had to have it to add to my collection. Little did I know that this wasn't 'just another variant'.

The board itself has been transformed into the interior of Hogwarts School, using rooms that Harry Potter fans all know and love. The colours have also been softened and transformed into a sepia type effect, which fits with the Harry Potter theme effectively. The main idea behind the game is to still find out who did it (one of the main characters will have been kidknapped!!), with what spell or magical item, and where. But this is where the main similarities stop.

The secret passages are still there, but in true Hogwarts style, they might not stay around for long!! Not only to the secret passages change throughout the game, but some doors will mysteriously become locked or re-opened! (All through a nifty rotating circle at each corner of the board).

Keep an eye out for the Dark Mark! If you roll a Dark Mark, or one of the rotating corners suddenly allows a Dark Mark to appear, you have to take a Dark Mark card. The effects of the Dark Mark vary depending on the card details, but it could affect anyone! It may affect everyone in the corridors for example! But don't worry, throughout the game you can collect magical items, spells or specific 'good' characters who could help you escape the effects of the Dark Mark. If, however, you find yourself unable to protect yourself, you could loose valuable house points. Each character starts with a certain number of house points, and if you loose them all before the end of the game, you're out! (I'm glad to report that this has happened very rarely, but certainly adds extra tension at the end when you're all battling to give the correct solution at the same time - you only need one badly timed Dark Mark, no means to defend yourself, and victory could be swept away from you!)

Overall, a fantastic and inventive variation of the classic Cluedo, and can be played by fans and non-fans of Harry Potter (although a little explanation regarding storylines and characters might be required with Harry Potter virgins!!). A great buy for Cluedo lovers!
