Advantages: fun

Disadvantages: price

Here's a game that was just SO popular four or five years ago the mind boggles. Picture a tower the size of a one litre bottle of drink. The tower is made up of rectangular pieces of wood, each of which is stacked on top of each other at right angles. The result is a seemingly solid tower which you can pull pieces out of.

The aim of the game is to pull pieces out without making the tower collapse. This is easy at first, as many pieces can be removed without damaging the structure of the tower, but after a while it gets harder and harder.

The game requires a steady hand and an intelligent brain as you have to know which bricks are likely to be possible ones to remove. Of course, you can play it if you're stupid, but it soon ends!

Price-wise, this is a ridiculous £15, and I have to say I find that price insulting. Luckily, so do a lot of other games manufacturers, and shops like Wilkinsons do their own for around £3 which is totally recommended. The only difference is that those versions aren't called Jenga, and don't have that written on every brick.

The other annoying thing is that it takes quite a while to put back together when the tower has tumbled; if you're playing against someone who is rubbish it soon gets boring constantly putting it all back together again.

Finally, there is a huge version available (as in 5ft high) which costs around £100 but is the most fun you can ever have!

All in all, a fun game. It never breaks or gets wrecked, yet it has a lot of hours of playability in it. If you're interested in another game that requires a similar steady hand, try Operation.

Summary: do it

It was popular 4-5 years ago? I remember it being hugely popular about 20 years ago, or more.
