Advantages: Easy to play
Disadvantages: Gets frustrating when you fail
Kerplunk is a wonderfully simple game and lots of fun to play for all ages, it can be a bit fiddly to set up at first but the rules are really basic and it is a well made game and a long time favourite of mine when I was young. My version is quite old so some of the materials might be a bit different in newer versions, such as mine has marbles whereas I'm sure plastic balls are now used.
The main body of the game comes in two parts, there is a circular plastic base which has four sections to it, into this clips a clear vertical tower which in the middle it has a number small holes punched through it. At the top there is an opening through which the marbles can be poured and at the bottom there is also an opening from which the marbles can exit the tower. As well as a set of marbles tere are also a number of thin plastic straws which slot through the holes. To start the game all of the plastic straws are inserted through the holes in a randon way to create a birds nest effect, then the marbles are poured through the top.
Up to four players can take part in the game and the idea is to take it in turns to remove a straw without any marbles falling into your tray, at the end of the game the player with the least marbles is the winner.
Ths is a game which uses a certain amount of strategy and the need for a steady hand, it is a lot of fun as players try not to allow marbles to fall and is suitable for all ages.
Summary: Good game for all ages.

- 15/01/08 My daughter loves this, I find that it's actually really difficult to set up though and get all the spikes in! |

- 15/01/08 Good start but what about your opinion of this game - there's hardly any of that here. One way is to describe with whom you've played and how long you tend to keep at it. |
