Advantages: Fun, cheap, basic concept, suitable for all ages

Disadvantages: Takes too long to set up

I had this game as a child and have many happy memories of playing this with my sister and my parents.

Once my daughter become old enough to play and enjoy board games Kerplunk was one of the first I bought her. Although in reality it was probably just an excuse for me to play it.

Kerplunk was first introduced in 1967 and has been one of the top games ever since.

The game is manufactured by Milton Bradley Company in the UK and by Mattel in the US. The name is derived from the noise which is made when playing the game.

The game consists of a plastic cone which is placed on a stand. This cone has numerous small holes through which you feed colourful plastic straws. You criss cross the straws until you create a web covering the inside of the tube. Marbles are then dropped onto this webbing.

The aim of the game is to take turns removing a straw without disturbing the marbles. If you pull a straw and marbles fall you keep the marbles and the person with the least marbles once all straws have been removed is the winner.

The games cost between £6-£10 dependent on where you shop.

The game is a very simple concept and is in my eyes very entertaining. It's a game for all the family and even young children can join in.

The downside of the game for me is the fact it can take quite a while to thread through the straws and whilst waiting its easy for younger children to become disinterested.

Other than that its a must have for all homes with children.

Summary: An all round good game.
