Kerplunk is a fun family game. It's fairly cheap (currently £7.79 from Argos), for 2-4 players and suitable for children about age 3+, as long as they know not to swallow the marbles!

It's a simple game and easy to set up. Place the larger tube with the hole at the side on top of the base. Then join the two centre pieces together (the ones with the small holes all over them), and place that on top, and finally put the small tube on top of the centre piece.

Now you need to put all the sticks in the holes in the centre piece. Place them evenly, in the top and bottom sections. When finished, drop all the marbles in the hole at the top of tube, so they land on the sticks. If any fall through gaps, just put them back in the top again.

The aim of the game is to be the player with the least number of marbles. To start, all sit round the game, one person to each part of the base piece (the little ditch/pot where the marbles fall), choose who's going first, and turn the tube so the bottom hole is facing them.

The player must pull out a stick, trying to choose one that won't make any marbles fall. Once you take hold of a stick, you can't change your mind and choose another one. Once the stick is pulled out, see if any marbles fall down into your pot (this is rather noisy!). Then turn the tube round to the next player. Continue this way till there is no more marbles left. The winner is the player with the least number of marbles.

My family enjoyed this games, although the kids did get bored after a few games. Overall, a good game, and I would recommend it to anyone.
