Advantages: So much fun from marbles and straws...

Disadvantages: It may be tough getting the original

I'm dismayed to read all these opinions saying how KERplunk is now just a shoddy game.

My brother and I used to play KERplunk loads when we were children but I thought that our game had long been thrown away. I did have a sneaking suspicion my brother had it but Guess Who and Chess were the only games languishing in their cupboard. I have written about how I hate Guess Who but I also hate chess as my brother starting reading chess books and using Grand master moves on me when I was about 7.

Anyway, I found KERplunk on the top of the wadrobe and we have been having a great time playing it ever since. Being of sturdy seventies construction it has come through unscathed. The holes where you place the skinny sticks (tm) in a careful or not so careful mesh are the right size and the sticks don't fall out. We've still got all the marbles though they are the really cheap ones anyway. And although I don't play KERplunk with my brother those competitive feelings are returning. In short it's a brilliant game if you can get the seventies original. The box has some scary seventies disembodies childrens heads on it but they are smiling. Inside there are some equally alarming orange graphics. Who says people can't have wholesome (though perhaps rather sad) fun these days?

And KERplunk is such a great name as it's just like the noise the marbles make when they hit your part of the tray and you get annoyed that you are losing....

KERplunk strategy tip NO1...if your down to a few skinny sticks (tm) try to use one to push the marbles into a more precarious postition (as you take it out), thus infuriating your openent
