Advantages: Fun for all age groups

Disadvantages: Can be a bit fiddly inserting the straws

My daughter received Ker Plunk for Christmas last year and it was an instant hit with my two girls. For me it was reminiscent of bygone days as I had owned the game when I was a child.

The game consists of two cylindrical plastic sections which flair out at the bottom where the plastic is red and has holes in it. These holes are for putting the straws(or sticks, whatever you want to call them)into. The two sections join together and sit on top of a circular plastic tray which is divided and numbered in to four sections. The marbles are them put through the hole at the top of the plastic cylinder and the balls are suspended by the straws. FOLLOWING ME SO FAR?!!

You then take it in turns to pull out a straw, the object of the game being to end up with as little marbles as you can. As I mentioned earlier about the plastic tray at the bottom being numbered, each player will decide at the onset which number they want to be. As each player takes his/her go, the plastic cylinder is turned round accordingly so that if any marbles should fall down then they will collect in the tray for the player.

I initially found that when setting up the game it was difficult to stop the straws from falling out. A tip that I have found is to insert the straws before joining the two plastic sections together - much easier.

Overall this is an excellent game for all ages. It is so much fun and you can see the kids almost holding their breath whilst pulling the straws out.

I would certainly give this game full marks. The fact that it was around when I was young shows that it has stood the test of time.
