Advantages: good for a boring evening, good for maths skills

Disadvantages: boring

I believe this game originates from India. The word parchisi means 25 the largest score that you can get with the counters is 25. The counters were which originally were cowry shells.
The word ludo means I play in Latin.

Ludo is a board game it is a cross and circle game.
The ludo board is a square board there are 4 coloured areas in each corner of the board a red area a blue one a green and a yellow. Each has spaces to place 4 counters of corresponding colours.
There is a route for the counters to take to the centre. When a player has all his/her counters in the centre she/he is the winner. To move the counters you throw a dice a six has to be thrown to start. If one persons counter lands on another the person on the bottom loses that counter. Little skill is needed for this game; it is more a game of chance.

This game is good for basic maths, counting and also for colour recognition. This game also helps social skills like turn taking a very important skill to have. Also help the children to learn to concentrate.

This game is suitable for 3yrs olds upwards to 8 although older children may get bored.
Games of ludo can be bought cheaply 3 or4 pounds upwards. A large garden ludo game can be bought for about 70 pounds ! and small travel game sets are available .
Thanks for reading Best wishes Mary
