Advantages: Great Lastability (tell meif its not a word-i read it in a magazine)

Disadvantages: Anyone fancy spending 7 hours playing monopoly

This game has been around for ages, and i would think that, on average, nearly every UK resident would have one. I, myself own Monopoly, Birmingham Monopoly, make your own-opoly and the simpsons monopoly and im waiting for the new edition one to come down in price on eBay of Amazon.

But really, what makes it so special. Sure, the older generation would like it, and many still do (including myself) despite the fact that, although more expensive, 99% of children today would rather be glued to their TV playing their newest £30 Playstation game, and then never playing it again. However, monopoly can cost over £20,( the original one is £30 in Argos, but its a wooden one-really) so what makes it so special? Its a truely original family game, and whats different is that, unlike many computer games, itcan be played over and over again without you getting bored.

Also, if they're no cheaters playing (i'm looking at your mum KatyGriff) or no immature board game flippers, you can have a great seven hour game with the only fight being who gets to play as the car or dog and who is stuck playing as the boring thimble. Its also a game where the saying 'the more the merrier' is true, because the there is more competition to buy the places, meaning that you arenot going to get just one person dominating with all of the others scrounging for money and praying to God to let them get to the 'pass go' square without landing on Mayfair Street

For anyone who hasn't played the game though, the rules are pretty simple. You each choose one piece to go around the board with and try to make money by buying property with the money you start off with. Buy all of the one type of property, and you can put houses and hotels on there, so whenever someone roles the dice and lands on your property, the money they have to pay to you increases. Then, you have to be the last person to be out of the game by maintainig your money. It isa great game, where you get to go to jail, earn money, and then try to not make it look obvious that you have landed on somebody elses property so they dont catch you and make you cough up the money.

Players: 2-6
Years 8+

It really does keep you entertained because of how fun it is. however, there are parts of the game that are annoying. For example, becaus ethe game goes on and on for ages, if you are down on your luck and run out of money early on in the game, then you just sit out and watch, or watch TV and spoil the -togetherness of the family' moment.

Altogether, it is a four-star board game. The rules are simple to understand, and the gaming in addictive, and the lifespan is huge. Thereis the hefty £20-£30 price tag, and it may not be a game for all people but, this is the prime of board games. We all like the simple-but-addictive games, because nobody likes having to play a game but check the manual everey few seconds. Your household needs this games.

Summary: Great for a rainy day, if the Playstations broke

I'm an oldie, so I'm pleased to read a review which is in favour of board games. Me and my four siblings found hours of fun with the original Monopoly and still do 30 years on. Lisa.
