Advantages: Great fun, easy to play, for all the family

Disadvantages: Takes a long time

Monopoly is a classic board game with many different variations from London Monopoly to Simpson's monopoly. The most popular version is the London version in which there are places like the Mayfair, Park Lane, Old Kent Road and many more famous places in London.
In Monopoly you roll two dice (like in most board games) and move around the board accordingly. You start by choosing a counter and then put this on the "Go" square. When you land on a property you get the choice of whether to buy it or leave it for someone else to snap up. Then if you bought that property you get paid rent whenever someone lands on it. You get paid more rent for the more expensive properties for example if someone lands on the Mayfair you get paid more than if someone landed on Old Kent Road.
At the start of the game I find it best to buy everything you land on until you have very little money left because you have got the whole game for someone to land on your property!
Rules:
1) You roll two dice.
2) If you roll a double six you get another go.
3) When you pass "Go" you get £200
4) When you land on a property you have to pay the owner the rent shown on the property card.
5) You can do private deals with other players if you both agree.
6) When you on Chance or Community chest pick up the card on the top of the pile.
7) To build houses/hotels you must own the whole set (all the blues, pinks, browns e.t.c) and pay the cost for the houses or hotels.

These are some of the main rules but pretty much everyone has their own which suits them. For example we put a limit on our games because everyone starts getting a bit bored after two hours and we count who has got the most money at this point unlike in the official rules where you play till there is only one person left who is not bankrupt.

The main way to win is to get a set and put houses and tells on them because if someone lands on them it can be a killer!

My sister and I used to play this game sometimes when we got bored and it is a good way to pass some time and is a fun game.

This is a fun game and I would recommend it to anyone with a bit of spare time but it can go on for a very long time if you play until everyone is bankrupt.

This game is £10.99 at Amazon.co.uk

Happy monopolying!

Summary: A very fun and unique board game

I do like the regionalised ones for cities and towns.
