Advantages: Great entertainment for all the family
Disadvantages: Game can drag on unless you set a time limit
Monopoly is one of those games that you either love or hate. I find that people fit into these two categories due to their past experience of the game.
Love category
If when you were a child, your parents allowed you to win.
If when you were a child you always won anyway.
You have never played it before, so don't know what you are letting yourself into.
Hate category
If you always lost as a child.
If you always cried if you thought you were going to lose (child or adult).
If you are skint and think the monopoly money should be real.
Now, rather than do the usual review, there are too many on here already (I will let you read those if you do not know what the game involves). I wanted to bring you some tips to help enjoy the game more.
1. Share more money out at the start of the game, plus a random selection of maybe two properties each.
2. Set a time limit of maybe an hour. One more turn each when you reach the time limit, then count up the funds. This makes for a better game, as sometimes after an hour it is a forgone conclusion who is going to win.
3. Set your own rules to mix it up. Like throw a double six and get £500, it makes the game more exciting.
In my opinion, I always enjoyed Monopoly. The special editions add a little interest. We have the Chelsea edition, so you buy players instead of properties. Also look out for local area editions, as they can be quite collectible.
Summary: A classic game that is enjoyable (for most)
