Advantages: Great for a family. Many versions around.
Disadvantages: Confusing for kids.
I must confess that I do not play Monopoly that often but when I do I really enjoy it. It is a mindbendigly complex game with many different strategies, tactics and levels of play. It says on the box that it can be suitable for two players although I wouldn't recommend this since it means that you will have much less competition. The game is about staying alert to see who is on your property and about looking out for new oportunities for making new money. Recently there have been many new 'modern' versions of monopoly released, they are all basically the same and follow the same rules except that they are set in places other than London, my favourite one is the 'Lancashire Monopoly set' (Lancashire being where I live). It has, for example, places like Bamber Bridge and Lancaster Castle. It is a nice touch. I would recommend this game for a large group of people (at least four or five) and I would also recommend it for children as long as they are playing it with adults, the reason for this being that they often need reminding of the rules (and occasionally need the odd little hint to ensure they don't lose out on any thing obvious). I would also recommend that any one playing this game read's the rules aloud to all the players before gameplay starts as there are MANY exceptions and ways of bending the rules.
