Everyone has heard of it, and everyone has a board. One of the best and at times one of the most boring games ever. This is a game to get out when everything else fails, it sure to get everyone involved and you can have great fun playing. If there’s a lot of people pair them up and if there’s only three of you that fine.
Monopoly must be one of the classic games of all time.

The only thing I know about the history of Monolpoy is that Charles Darrow invented it, the reason I remember is when I was very small a teacher told us and I thought yet that rhymes with ‘sparrow’ and it has stayed with me ever since.

Anyway back to the game, you need an honest reliable banker to keep an eye on the money and to make sure nothing illegal is going on. The amount of times I have been riddled out of winning by friends who have cheated is unbelievable, a quick snatch at the notes whilst your making the coffees…..tut and to think it’s only a game!
In the game you have to buy, sell or rent properties and this will increase your wealth. And who ever is the richest wins, although it can take a long time deciding who is the wealthiest.

You all have a go and you work round the board, you move is determined by what number the dice landed on. If you have landed on someone else’s property then you have to pay rent, your money declines and the get richer. If the property is not owned you can buy it and then start charging rent on whoever lands on it.

The street names may be familiar to you, and it gives you that bit of realism, that you are actually owning the houses………
I could go through the game rules but I am sure those of you who have played the game will know what they are.

It’s a fun game, brings out that competitive edge and is worth getting out when there’s nothing else to do. If played in a good spirit can be great fun, but don’t play
it with somebody who’s boring because then it can be boring.
When, I play it with my husband there’s good banter and we enjoy it quite a lot.

You can buy monopoly from most game stores and it’s reasonable priced at £10 or so and it will last you a long time. A very good board game.
