Monopoly was the board game that I played the most when I was growing up. I haven't played it in a while but i'm sure it is still as good.

It is for between 2-6 players and for over 10 year olds I think. There is a childrens version out though.

The characters you can pick is things like a Dog, Car, Boat, Thimble, Hat and an Iron.

Each person pick an object to move around the board with.

When you first start out you are given money from the bank, but you spend and earn money going around the board. When you pass go you collect £200. If you go to jail you either pay £50 or try to get out by throwing doubles.

There are Community Chest and Change cards. When you land on one of these squares it will either give you good new or bad news. They have things like advance to go, collect money from the other players, go to jail and pay your community tax.

While going around the board you have the opportunity to buy places and put houses and hotels on them. You can buy certain places for about £200 then a house is £150 and so on. If another contestant lands on your property then you charge them money. So you get back what you spent on it and more.

The object of the game is to be the last one left with any money. That makes you the winner. It is a fun game but could last for days in some cases.

Even though it is an old game now it is still a good one.
