The reason why monopoly is like marmite is because you either love the game or loathe it!! You are either one of those people that cannot wait until christmas so you can get out the monopoly board game and play it into the early hours of the morning. Or the other kind that i can relate to far more easily, one of those where the second the word monopoly is mentioned you confess that you have to leave to go and watch the paint dry in your newly refurbished conservatory!

I have always said that you only enjoy monopoly if you win it and that explains a lot about my loathing of it. Everyone says i am just bitter when i say there is very little skill involved in the game. As far as i can see you just have to buy Old Kent Road and Whitechapel and put hotels on them -earn a bit of money and use it to invest in the hotels on Park lane and Mayfair. Unfortunately i never land on Old Kent Road, i never land on Mayfair, i never land on Whitechapel and i never land Park Lane and unfortunately my partener always does so the game follows the excat same pattern!!! - Maybe its better when a few more people are playing i don't know and i hope i will never find out!!!!

Incase you are one of those strong willed people that have never been conned into a game of monopoly i will briefly explain what happens! It is a game of immense luck and probably and incy tiny weeny teeny bit of skill. It involves throwing a dice to take you around a board that is covered in properties that are named after London streets! - When you land on the property, you can choose whether to buy it or just leave it (according to rules you can auction aswell but weve never been brave enough to try that!). Each property is colour coded and if you get all the properties of that colour then you can invest in them and buy houses and hotels for the property. At the beginning you are given a certain amount of money to spend and the person to lose is the first to go bankrupt!!!!!! r>
In theory i suppose it probably is a good game - just oughta get my lucky boots on before i play it next time and maybe i might enjoy it if i'm receiving money all the time as opposed to giving it away!!!!
