Advantages: Has places and Characters that everyone knows
Disadvantages: I never win
The Coronation Street version of Monopoly by Waddingtons is the same as original Monopoly except instead of the squares being set in London they are set on Coronation Street. Old Kent Road is now Roys Rolls. Mayfair is the Rovers Return. Park Lane is The Snug. The kids have really got into this game and have played it every day since we bought it. (which is starting to get on my nerves now} We had to spend a little time explaining who some of the older characters are such as Hilda Ogden and Elsie Tanner, but on the whole they knew most of the places and characters involved such as the corner shop and underworld. It seems a bit strange picking up cards from chance or community chest and being told "receive £50 from sale of knickers" That just wouldn't work on the original would it. "Bettys hot shot comes in collect £25 from the bookies" I don't think Betty ever had a hotshot in her life. "DSS catch up with you pay £50" That one is definitely bringing the game up to date isn't it. "Shop your neighbours to the cops receive £150" What kind of a society are we living in. You no longer put Hotels on your sites. In the new game you buy pubs instead. Basically it is the same as the original with a few little twists, which makes it still a good family game.
