Advantages: Ingenious design

Disadvantages: Game won't work if pieces get lost or broken

Mousetrap is another much loved childhood game of mine. I would think twice about buying it for a child who is careless with their toys, however, as a broken or lost piece would be likely to render the whole game useless.

The basic premiss is that you move your mouse playing piece around the board, landing on squares that enable you to add another piece to the ingenious trap set-up. Once you reach the end and the trap is built all players move around in an endless circle, until one player is underneath the trap and another player can set it off. It is a clever design that the trap isn't foolproof so there is the nerve racking wait whilst the ball bearing starts its journey around the circuit that may result in the cage falling down on top of the mouse. If the trap fails and the cage doesn't fall the mouse lives to fight another day, if it gets trapped it is out.

The game would be good for children who enjoy building things and who will take the care to put it together properly and look after it. The pieces are sturdily made but they are all essential for the game to work so you can't lose or break any.
