Advantages: Great for sitting down time with toddlers

Disadvantages: Repetitive for adults if the child wants to play again and again!

Orchard Toys are a good quality name in puzzles, games and activity packs. I didn't think there was much out there in the way of board games for under three's but I have found two games that my two year old absolutely loves. Shopping List is a game for 4 players (recommmended for 3-7 years). Each player has a trolley and a shopping list. All the shopping items are on small pieces of card and are faced down on the table. Each player turns a card over and play is something like the memory pairs game. If you turn over an item that is on your shopping list you put the item in your trolley. My daughter is patient enough to wait until it is her turn to 'claim' a piece of shopping she has seen someone else turn over, which I think makes it an excellent game for 'waiting for your turn', memory and indentification with every day tasks and objects. Not to be confused with ELC's 'Shopping Game'.
Insey Winsey Spider is also highly rated by by two year old, though we sometimes make the incentive to win a little more obvious than just merely 'you've won!'. Each player has a coloured spider and a drainpipe. The dice moves you forward and the weather spinner moves you down to the start if it rains and not if it's sunshine.
These games really hit the nail on the head for two and three year olds and as they get a little older they can play them unsupervised with their friends.
Shopping List is only £4.99 and comes in a box which is nice and compact. Insey Winsey Spider is £5.99. I think they are both excellent value for money.
