I've never used a Ouija board and I never intend to use one. So why am I writing an opinion on it? The answer may be a suprise to some of you. My main reason is that I'm a Christian. OK, I hear you say. But whats that got to do with it? Let me explain. Firstly, what is a Ouija board? It's a board with the all the letters of the alphabet, yes, no and goodbye printed on it. The 'players' use a pointer, often a glass, to place their fingers on. The 'players' then try and contact the spirits of dead people and ask them questions. The answers to the quetions are spelt out on the board by the pointer, which moves itself. In some instances its actually someone in the group 'cheating' by pushing the glass, or pointer, but in the vast majority of cases spirits which actually be there. This were my main reason for not using them comes in. Trying to contact spirits in any way, or read the future, is playing with the occult. This is something which is extremely dangerous, and for Christians totally unacceptable. When the spirits are called, and arrive, they enter into peoples minds. Many of these may well be 'harmless' but even these can cause a person to be possessed. A person who has been possessed has no control over what they do and may very well end up hurting/killing themselves or someone else. I have seen people who are possessed, many of whom had used Ouija boards and it is extremely frightening. They may not even sound like humans. Christians believe that any of these spirits are the work of the devil (satan) and are therefore dangerous and should not be played with. Obviously everybody has a right to do as they please in life, but unless you want to start playing with the occult I should steer well clear of Ouija boards, or indeed any other fortune telling items, including horoscopes.
