Advantages: Fun filled family entertainment
Disadvantages: The score sheets eventually run out, but you can easily make your own . . . . .
Aaahhhhh, pass the pigs, a great family game that reminds me of holidays abroad as a family when I was just a young lass, getting over excited and competitive trying to trash my dad night after night in our hotel room......
.......Well pass the pigs was just a memory untill it randomly got pulled out of a cupboard at a friend's house recently and after an entralling game in the wee hours of the morning, I decided it was time to share the details of this great little game with you lot out there.
If you have been unlucky enough not to have come across this game before then put simply it is a game in which, instead of rolling the dice the players roll the pigs! These are two cute little pink, relatively realistic looking plastic pigs and the game is scored according to how the pigs land on the table.
Simple, huh.
Each player takes it in turns to roll the pigs and then the scores are recorded by one volunteer on the scores sheets provided. Each score sheet has space for four players in total and the aim of the game it to be the first player to get to a cumulative score of 100.
SCORING.
**Razorback (one pig falls flat on his back) - 5 points #
**Double Razorback - 20 points
**Trotter (one pig lands on all fours) - 5 points #
**Double Trotter - 20 points
**Snouter (one pig lands on his snout) - 10 points #
**Double Snouter - 40 points
** Leaning Jowler (one pig lands on an akward angel, which involves balancing on his ear) - 15 points #
**Double Leaning Jowler - 60 points.
# Combination scores of these positions are permitted.
**Pig out (pigs lie on their sides, with legs facing the opposite ways) - ZERO POINTS.
**Sider (pigs fall both on their sides with their legs facing in approximately the same direction) - 1 point.
**Oinker. (pigs touching) RETURN TO ZERO!!!
** Piggy Back. (pigs land one directly on top of the other - this is basically impossible, I have never seen it done.....) OUT OF THE GAME!
If that is confusing them please refer to http://www.captainjava.com/pigs/PassThePigs.html where they have some very helpful little pictures for your reference.
The game comes with complete instructions, of course, which are very simple to follow and the pictures of each of these positions is given so there can be no doubt about the scoring.
The game is suitable for ages: 7 and up and I think that the whole family can really enjoy this game (it is especially good after a couple of glasses of wine). At least two 2 players are required but there is no upper maximum.
Each pass the pigs kit contains: 2 pig dice, score pad, scoring guide, 2 pencils and plastic carrying case which is very handy for taking the game on holiday and for ensuring that you don't lose all the bits and pieces.
Pass the Pigs is made by MB and can be purchased online or in the shops from around £7.95, which is a bargain.
Be careful though, the pigs are pretty small and you don't want to lose them! This is a great game and I really recommend it, so head out to the shops today and pick up some pigs for a fun filled family game!
Have fun playing and thanks for reading!
Nicky.
Summary: A classic family game for all to enjoy.
