Advantages: Fast pace, and great for families
Disadvantages: Not for people who enjoy tranquility!
When I first saw Password, I knew it was my kind of game. This is not one for the people who enjoy slow, calmer games, as the best bit about this game is its frantic, fast-paced nature. It's very exciting and a good one for all the family.
The idea of the game is to reach your destination on the game board by describing the password to your team so they can guess it. One team starts with a disc which has a word on it. They have to describe this word to their team without saying it. So, for example, if the password was "Peacock", you might say "A bird with big, brightly-coloured tail feathers". Once your team has guessed the word, you pass the disc on to the other team. Of course, while this is happening, the timer is ticking away. The other team push the button to change the password, and then repeat the describing process. The disc is passed back and forth between the teams, and if the other team is in possession of the disc when the timer stops, your team moves a step further on the board.
The best asset of this game is the high levels of excitement. As time ticks by, the timer will start to beep faster and faster, evoking high levels of excitement and sometimes so much that the disc can be flung to the other team with just seconds to go. It is played at great speed, which means that it will only last half an hour or so at most. The speed makes the game extremely exciting and thoroughly enjoyable for all.
The more people you can get playing, the better, as more people means more excitement and a faster pace to the game, with guesses coming in left, right and centre. How people react under the pressure of the timer is something which can make the game extremely funny. It can sometimes force them into screaming their guesses at the top of their lungs, or physically throwing the disc to the other team to get it out of their possession as fast as possible.
This game retails, in new, at approximately £29.99, but older versions of the same game are available in many places, including Amazon.
Even at £29.99 I would say that this game is well worth it. Take it along to family parties or play it with your friends! It's a fantastic game that I have never got bored of in 6 years of playing it! This is strongly recommended to anyone above the age of 10, and definitely to people who love a fast-paced, exciting atmosphere.
Summary: Just my type of game! Full marks!
