Talk about a toy to bring on a heart attack - Pop Up Pirate is definately it! This used to really scare me as a child and its still on sale now.

Sold by Tomy, a well known toy manufacturer, Pop up Pirate has been a popular game for decades.

You can buy this game for less than £10 on Amazon or if you don't mind a few swords missing, pick it up from your local car boot for around 50p.

This game is easy to set up. the barrel sits on top of the blue stand then you push the pirates head into the top (this activates one of the holes as the popping one!)

Players choose a coloured set of swords each and take it in turns to slot in a sword, hoping that they won't be the one to make the pirate pop.

Once the pirate has been popped that player is out and the remaining players start to play again until only one player is left.

The hole which will make the Pirate pop up changes every time so you never know which hole will set him off.

I really enjoy this game, it is simple and easy to pick up and put away. It is also suitable for all ages. I would definately recommend this game to encourage sharing and taking turns.
