Advantages: Fun and exercises the brain
Disadvantages: hurts the brain after a while
Rummikub is a number game that requires logic and quick thinking and good number skills to be good at. The good news is that after just a few games you have picked up all the skills necessary to have a decent game.
The box includes four sets of tiles numbered from 1-13 in blue, black, red and yellow. The aim is to get rid of all you tiles by creating lines of numbers of the same colour or different colours of the same number. There are other rules but thats the basic idea.
If you're not into number games that may sound dull but it gets interesting when you are trying to get rid of tiles while stopping other people getting out. All the time trying to work out how to order the tiles in the space of the one minute you get for your go. What happens is that at the last minute someone changes the whole board so your perfect plan to win disappears and you have to rapidly get around it. Great game and hours of fun.
Summary: Great Game

- 07/09/09 According to the official rules, which you can find here http://www.pagat.com/rumm y/rummikub.html there is no RULE for one minute, only a suggestion that if you want to limit the length of play, you can do so, if you like. Only if you want to include the limit, is there a three tile penalty. Yet another site http://www.rummy-games.co m/rules/rummikub.html says there's a two minute time limit. For the on-line version it says "Players have a time limit of 60, 90, 120 seconds (as decided by room owner) per turn. " Yet another site http://globetrotter-games .com/index.htm?E&game /rules/eRummiK1.htm says there is a 2 minute limit and the penalty is just one tile. But http://en.wikipedia.org/w iki/Rummikub has no time limit. In any case, saying that this is a "rule" when it isn't universally agreed upon, is incorrect.
I'v e been playing this game for over 30 years and I've never used any time limit. |

- 06/09/09 In the rules it does have one minute per go. Not everyone plays this rule but it is in there. I love this game. |

- 06/09/09 Sorry, but what is that bit about "the one minute you get for your go"? There's nothing in the rules of this game that say you have to finish your turn in 60 seconds. Aside from that inaccuracy, you might want to fix some spelling mistakes you have here. |
