Advantages: Teaches children about the big bad world.

Disadvantages: Boring for adults.

I used to love snakes and ladders when I was young, now I find it repetative as I realise that there is no skill involved.

I have rated this game as good however because I know that young children will enjoy it and it teaches them many things, the most obvious is that it teaches them to count to six (the sides on the dice) but most young children can do this anyway.

What I find particularly impressive about this game is that it teaches young children the concept of winning and losing, preparing them for the big bad world that is to come. It teaches unfairness such as when they have to go down the snakes or when other people go up the ladders, it is a VERY well designed game. On yet another even higher level it teaches children that different people have different opinions about the same thing ie, when they overtake someone on a ladder they see it as a good thing, yet the roles are reversed they think differently.

This game is great for getting children to think about unfairness, I would recommend to any parent who has children over the age of siz that they play it with them. If the game is simply played by a group of young children it can easily lead to fights so this is not recommended, a group of adults playing the game will find it boring and repetative.
