Advantages: Teaches your children to count and maybe be artistic

Disadvantages: Play it too much and you'll have nightmares

Good fun for young kids, teaching them to count and to obey rules.

I think this game is one that every child enjoys. I used to look forward to playing with my mum, then years later my son would look forward to playing it with me - they can learn and you get to spend "quality time" with these little people - in "no time" they'll be "too big" for snakes and ladders - until one day they find themselves encouraging their own kids to play and what a shame it would be if they didn't know how.

*The rules*
The rules of this game are very simple. You throw a die and count your way up the board -if you land at the foot of a ladder you climb it and if you land on the head of a snake you slide down it.

*Tips*
1. If your child masters counting up to six you could always play it with two dice.
2. You could encourge your kids to draw their own boards and number them (teaches them to be creative).

N.B.
1. Please remember that children can choke on small objects
2. When you lose that it's the taking part and not the winning that counts :-)
