Advantages: Simplest game there is. Ideal for youngsters.

Disadvantages: No skill, only chance.

Take one dice and a board divided into 100 squares. Roll a die and move your piece. If it's at the top of snake, you slide down the snake (boo!). If it's at the bottom of the ladder climb up the ladder (hoorah!). Take turns among the players. First one to last square wins.

I've seen this game in a variety of guises, replacing the snakes with firemen's poles and hoses, or a starhip based theme with blackholes and comets, and so on. It's still the same game, just some boards look better.

It is a child's game, which I admit to loving when I was about 5 years old. No skill, no decisions to make. Just pure chance. Good way to teach a young kid games, maths (adding those numbers up) and playing sociably. Then move them to something a little more complex, like Ludo?

Dealing for youngsters, or indeed for anyone, is illegal and morally reprehensible. Stop it or I'll call the police.
