For example, if the item was Christmas, you must describe this without using the words listed below it which might include December, Jesus, presents, star, wise men, tree. Each team has 1 minute and one person must describe the item and the other must guess it. Crowned Review Unspeakably good fun - Taboo :) (684 words)

I used to play this game when I was younger with my family, but now being in my 20's, I must say that this is fantastic for a girls night in with a few munchies and a glass of wine or two. What's in the box? In the box you get a pack of Taboo Cards, a squeaky buzzer, an egg timer and a score card. The last time we played it, we had four players, on two teams of two. It is suitable for 4-10 players, though I feel between 4-6 is a great number to play. The game is recommended by Hasbro for ages 12+ and up, though younger children with a wide vocabulary may be fine to play. How to ...... The way it works is each card has a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Even better with a bottle of wine!! (404 words)

Such a simple idea, yet so much fun. That is how I would descibe Taboo in one line. We bought this game for something to do at Christmas and have never looked back. The concept of the game is that you work in teams to try and describe certain objects to your teammates without using the Taboo words (of which there are five.) No gesturing is allowed - or you will be squeaked with the little purple squeaky thing which causes amusement to all ages!! Also you are not allowed to cheat by using ' rhymes with..' so I hereby challenge you to find a way of legally 'cheating' at this game - I doubt you will find it!! You also get an egg timer ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Taboo: A game that will guarantee laughs! (341 words)

There have been many a girls' night in spent playing this game. it is so much more fun than charades, scrabble or monopoly. The object of the game is to guess the word your team mate is trying to describe. The catch is your team mate can not say five particular words associated with it. These are usually the most obvious things and leaves you a bit stumped. Of course you can't say the mystery word or any part of it either. The game starts by dividng into two teams. Its best if everyone sits next to someone who is on the other team because it saves alot of getting up and swapping seats once the game has started. The first play is handed a pile of cards ...  Read the complete review

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ THE GAME OF UNSPEAKABLE FUN ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I just realised that I had not yet written a review on my favourite boardgame, so here it is. The game is called taboo and although it is quite simple when you think about it, it is a marvellous game and great fun for all ages. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ What does taboo mean? ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ For those of you who are not familiar with the word Taboo, here is a dictionary definition: Taboo - adjective - forbidden to be used, mentioned, or approached because of social or cultural rather than ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Taboo: It was 'stiff' and us three girls laughed hysterical ... (1082 words)

At one stage I ached so much I didn't think I could take any more - do you know the feeling? It was hysterical we were all laughing so much. I felt quite red in the face and there were tears in my eyes. To think that just a short while earlier we were all so reserved and on our best behaviour. That all changed, however, once we started playing Taboo. It was one of those evenings: three couples sitting round a dining room table making polite converstaion, and it was all getting a little strained. The meal had been OK but afterwards it became quite boring. Sue, who's house it was, said, "Let's have a game of Taboo". I groaned ...  Read the complete review
