Advantages: fun
Disadvantages: dangerous
Twister, to me, is a sexually charged game from my teens. In it, you have the opportunity to get VERY close to girls, and all in the name of fun: ideal!
Picture a plastic sheet with different coloured cirles on it. The sheet is around 6ft square. Now picture a spinning board which has different categories such as 'left foot green'. The aim of the game is to play in a group with individuals following the instructions on what to put and where to put it. After a while you are all in odd positions, tangled up together and on the brink of collapse.
Personally, I find this game a real safe and healthy nightmare. It's so prone to ending with ten people squashing your spine, that I don't know how they got away with making it.
Like I said, the game is ideal for hormonal teens who can 'accidentally' brush up against bums and boobs to their hearts desire (thedevilinme springs to mind). As adults, it's a fun drinking game that pushes your physical strength as well as dexterity and balance. As children, it's a good laugh, but often seems to end in tears as someone gets squashed.
I suppose that's the best thing about it - the way it works for all age groups. Let the kids play, and then when they've gone to bed, try naked Twister with the wife maybe?
For £15 it's a lot of money for a plastic sheet, but it does have longevity. I recommend playing it outside on the grass on a sunny day, and of course it's portable enough that you could always take it out with you for a picnic game too.
All in all a lot of fun.
