Twister is a game that invariably ends in lots of laughter as people struggle to bend and twist their bodies into increasingly challenging positions. To be good at it you need to have flexibility, stamina and fast reactions. The game consists of a large plastic mat with six circles in rows of four different colours, and a spinner that tells you what body part (hand or foot) to put on which coloured circle.

The game is fun for all ages from children to competitive adults. It can be played with two to four players, plus one person to spin the spinner. If there are only two of you you can play the non spinner version which involves more skill and cunning. Player 1 names a body part, then player 2 names a colour. When both players have sorted this out player 2 names the body part and player 1 the colour. The skill of this is in manipulating the situation so it is easy for you and hard for your opponent to move.

In more competitive games the spinner person can also act as referee to decide whether someone has actually reached a circle or not, when they are out and whether a player has moved off of a circle whilst trying to reach another circle. Of course you could not worry about the rules that strictly and just have fun seeing who can stay up the longest.

Our mat is rather worn now, and you can hardly see the yellow circles. I think this may have had something to do with wearing grippy socks whilst playing it.

Summary: Great for the child and child at heart
