Advantages: Great fun!
Disadvantages: The score pads running out.
MB is number one when it comes to board games and they also make my personal favourite which is yahtzee. Yahtzee is a game of chance, skill and sheer luck and is fun for a single player or for a family, due to the counting involved I guess it could also be described as educational.
The game consists of a pad of sheets of paper which are specially printed in the sections you need to score, five dice which you use to score with, a cup which you use to shake and throw the dice and a small round arena to throw the dice into.
Each player gets three throws of the five dice and the idea is to fill in the requests on the pad such as three of a kind (obviously three dice showing the same number), four of a kind (need I explain)?? A full house which is when three dice show one number and the other two show a different number such as three 5`s and two 4`s for instance, a low straight which can be either 1234 or 2345 and a high straight which can be either 12345 or 23456, there is also on the top of the score card a section from 1 to 6 in which you try to throw as many ones and as many twos and so on and so forth.
You can complete your score card in any order you choose and if you fail to get a section complete there is a chance box which can be used once and you just tally up the total amount shown on the dice, thereafter if you fail to complete a section you must place a zero somewhere. There is also the section that the game gets its name from, Yahtzee, this is when you throw five dice with the same number on and it scores you 50 points (the highest on the card).
It is truly a fun game designed for 8 years plus but I reckon slightly younger could cope with it, it can be from one player to as many as you like. The problem with it is the score pads run out really quickly and are not so easy to replace and not cheap either. You can get the game for around £7.99 but a score pad will cost you £2.49 on its own. I get round this by simply scanning a page and printing my own.
A highly recommended game for all.
Summary: A great fun game for all the family!
