Advantages: Smooth running, economy, and an engine you can rely on.
Disadvantages: Not a one, apart from the price.
OK, A review about an outboard motor? Yes, easy, I have been into boats most of my life, I have owned a few, and had outboard motors, including this little seven and a half horse power Mercury.
Mercury must be one of the best outboard manufacturers in the world, and they have a very good reputation. They also make Mercruiser sterndrives for inboard engines, asd well as trim tabs for stability.
The company has a decent website, take a look:-

This engine is 7.5 Horse power, and very efficient, it delivers all the power where it is needed, and I have yet to come across a smoother outboard. The vibration is minimal, and fumes are kept to a reasonable level. The engine is of course water cooled, and there is a jet coming from the engine, squirting downwards into the water, so you have a visible sign there is no blockage.
The propellor, is mounted in rubber, so can absorb shocks that would damage a solid blade, and the fibre glass engine cover is strong, yet light enough to be handled by anyone.
The engines have always been finished in the familiar jet black goss finish, This is one of the smartest outboards available.
The fuel consumption is very frugal, and the outboard can be used with the tiller, or be fitted with wires going to a steering wheel. The fuel pipe is a quick release type, and the clamps holding it to the stern of the boat are very easy to use.
Just make sure you use the correct two stroke oil in these engines, and you will have many years of use.
Happy boating.
Summary: Decent all round motor, recommended by me.
