Cowshed Knackered Cow Relaxing Bath & Body Oil
by Sarccyslayer
Knackered cow - probably just about sums me up right now and I have the bath product to match. Cow Shed products are suitable for vegetarians, do not test their products on animals and most products are suitable for both men and women. Cowshed products are marketed as being a stylish range of natural, therapeutic products whose ... "indulgent bath and home products are blended using the highest quality organic, fair trade and wild-crafted essential oils from around the world. The botanicals are naturally free from Parabens, petrochemicals and sulphates, contain no artificial fragrances or colours, and are suitable for vegetarians". (as stated on the cowshed website). Within the Cowshed range there are products ranging from Bath and Shower lotions, gels, candles, soap, hand wash, massage oils and a whole host of treats which are all listed on the Cowshed website.
This particular product is called 'Knackered Cow' which did make me laugh when I saw it on the shelf in Boots. It retails for £20 and for that money you get a bottle which contains 100ml of 'Relaxing Bath and Massage Oil'. I really like Cowshed products and don't use them as much as I should. Not only do they have some very funny names, they stand out in my local Boots because they are shelved on their own and due to their dark packaging on some products and light on some others, the retro black and white look draws the eye.
That said this product is sold in a plastic bottle with a black lid and a black label which surrounds the bottle. Above the line of the label you can see the oil quite clearly and I can best describe it as looking like Olive Oil. The label is quite decorative and whilst featuring the name and brand of the product there are in white, flowers which look similar to the Dandelion flower that people like to blow in the summer.
As you remove the lid from the bottle, the very first thing that I could smell was a mixture of eucalyptus and lavender which together is a really lovely smell and as you begin to run the bath, the instructions are to pour the oil under warm running water, as ever, I always wait until the bath has been running for a few minutes to ensure the oil will actually mix with the water and not the bottom of the bath. You can also choose to massage a few drops into you wet skin after bathing which helps to seal in moisture, a bit like using Baby Oil and you can also use it for a body massage and to do that you simply pour a small amount into the palm of your hand and apply directly to your skin or get someone else to do it for you. Already this product has many different uses, though I tend to use it more for a bath to help relax and unwind and then if my skin is particularly dry I will massage some into my skin once I have patted my skin dry.
As the oil hit's the hot water in the bath, there are a multitude of aromas which spring to life and because this is an oil, there are no bubbles, but be warned if you use a lot of this it does turn you water to looking like you might have weed in it!
Ingredients are always my favourite things to look at whenever I buy a product. I always want to know what is in it and why. This product is packed full of lovely essential oils and doesn't contain Parabens but you can read more about those on the website. So for me there are quite a few main ingredients. Starting with Eucalyptus Oil which helps to clear your mind and also helps with headaches, fatigue, nervous stress and tension. On the body it can give a cooling affect. Lavender Oil comes next and yes it is one of my favourite ingredients and has appeared in quite a lot of products that I have used lately and that is because it is really soothing for and on your skin, it is also soothing and calming on the nerves, helps to relieve stress and tension, helps with depression and irritability and in general it is effective for headaches, migraines and for those people who suffer from insomnia. Marjoram comes next and again that has appeared a few times of late and it is known to be a good muscle relaxant but also has what is referred to as pain killing properties making it useful for problems such as rheumatic pains, muscle spasms, swollen joints and painful muscles. Chamomile is also present and it promoted calmness both of the mind and of the skin because it soothes. Sweet Almond Oil is great for moisturising the skin and it also helps to lick in moisture to keep the skin looking and feeling soft and smooth. The final ingredient to mention is Hemp Seed Oil, which I have come across in quite a few products and it is within this product because it has properties which help soothe sore muscles and achey joints and acts as an anti-inflammatory but it also helps to soften and soothe skin and it moisturised. If you want to know what else features within this product you can find them all listed on the back of the bottle or online.
After getting out of my bath, grudgingly (can someone invent a product which keeps your bath water hot for hours please!!) I feel amazingly relaxed and could quite happily have got into bed and fallen asleep. My skin is soft and smooth to the touch and as you massage some of this into your skin, the aromas come alive again and if you like the smell of it or at least the ingredients, it really is such a lovely feeling and the skin softness lasts for a good 24 hours without the need to anything else or any extra moisturising creams. All you need is your bed.
This is probably my favourite product from the Cowshed range from the products that I have tried to date and I think it is definitely worth the money or Boots Points for purchasing it and I would do so again without hesitation. Read the complete review |

Cowshed Horny Cow Seductive Bath & Massage Oil
by europe-chick
I tried Cowshed products for the first time after receiving the Horny Cow Seductive Bath & Massage Oil, Horny Cow Seductive Body Lotion, and Horny Cow Seductive Bath & Shower Gel as part of a huge haul of wonderful gifts on my hen weekend. I absolutely loved them, and I've bought them myself a few times since then. Cowshed ... products are not especially cheap, the Horny Cow products range from £16.00 to £20.00, but they are definitely indulgent luxury products.
The Horny Cow Seductive Bath & Massage Oil retails for £20.00, and comes in a 100ml bottle.
The oil is kind of a clear yellow in colour, and it's not actually as thick as some oils can be, it's quite a liquid oil, it's not actually all that greasy either. I use this mainly as either a bath oil, or as a body oil. I do use this sparingly, as although I've just said it's not a greasy oil it can actually leave a slight oily residue if you use a bit too much. And also it's very expensive at £20.00 for just 100ml, so that's another reason that I use it sparingly!
If I use this as a bath oil then I just pour a very small amount under the warm running water, and then soak in the divinely scented, wonderfully soft bath water for a little while. When I step out of the bath I can actually feel that the oil has left a slight covering on my skin. This leaves my skin super soft and smelling gorgeous, it doesn't leave my skin greasy in any way at all. This also leaves the bathroom smelling absolutely wonderful as well. It does leave a slight oily residue in the bath, but then I find all bath oils do this anyway.
If I use this as a body oil then I will just massage literally only a couple of drops into my damp skin after a shower. It soaks into my skin completely and dries without leaving any greasy residue behind. This leaves my skin feeling really soft and hydrated, and locks all the moisture into my skin. This works best massaged into damp skin as it soaks into my skin better this way, it doesn't soak in as easily on dry skin. I use this all over my body, and I don't need to use much of it as a little really does go a long way.
I especially love the absolutely divine fragrance of the Horny Cow products. Cowshed state that it is a ''floral, spicy blend that evokes your sensuality and passion with rose absolute, and essential oils of patchouli and cinnamon. Rose absolute heightens romance, patchouli arouses desire, and cinnamon warms.''
I would say that this is an accurate description, this does have a very warm and spicy floral fragrance, I would say that I can smell the warm spicy cinnamon the most in this, followed by the spicy musky patchouli, I can't detect rose as such, but it definitely has a warm floral undertone to it. It is definitely a very sensual fragrance, this feels to me more like a wintery fragrance, it feels a bit too warm and spicy for the summer months when I would generally want something a little bit fresher.
I always layer the Horny Cow products, and so I always use the oil with either the shower gel or the body lotion, I do use all three of the products together a lot of the time. I find that because the fragrance in these is so intense if I layer two or three of the products then I don't actually need to use any perfume as well. I can catch the divine fragrance wafting off my skin for the majority of the day. Even late in the evening when the fragrance has mainly worn off I can still smell it if I actually sniff my skin.
I would say that because the fragrance is so intense in these then you may find that it will clash or overpower your perfume, and so maybe it's best to just use the Horny Cow products alone as I do.
I thought that these were a beautiful, albeit expensive hen party gift, a few of my friends had very generously clubbed together to buy me the set. I used the set that weekend, and then I also took the products on my honeymoon as well. If my husband is ever stuck for what to get me for our Wedding Anniversary then I will always ask him for these! Read the complete review |

The Horny Cow Seductive Body Lotion retails for £18.00, and comes in a 300ml bottle.
The body lotion is white in colour, and although it's a lotion it's actually quite a thick substantial lotion. It massages into my skin easily though and it completely disappears and sinks into my skin leaving no greasy residue or stickyness behind at all, it just seems to melt into my skin. This leaves my skin feeling really soft and hydrated, and superbly moisturised. It feels like a very intensely moisturising lotion, and my skin feels absolutely superb after using this. I use this all over my body, and I don't need to use much of it as a little really does go a long way.
